Play Ball!!!

I was lucky to get to sing the National Anthem to open a recent baseball game. It was a unique opportunity - something a bit different than I usually do, so I wanted to make note of it here. My little Luke was so excited to wave to me from the stands. Afterward he asked, "Mom - you are Lyndsi Houskeeper?" I guess when they announced me he was just expecting them to say, "Luke's mom," which I would probably prefer. :) That little boy always makes me smile.

Celebrate Children!

I just came across this great collage of the 2009 National PTA Convention that I was blessed to be a part of this year. For the past few years, I've been writing the song for the PTA Theme and this year it's "Celebrate Children". I loved it! I love my children so much and I love the idea of celebrating them every day! It was a very special experience to share this song with a wonderful group of individuals. My good friend, Ryan Tilby, also performed with his group Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband. It was a great convention and a super way to kick off the year for our wonderful children! (I'll add the song to my playlist too, so listen if you'd like!)

Friends and Neighbors

Just last week, I had the chance to present a fireside for my ward and a few neighboring wards. It was extra special to share my music with close friends and neighbors. My dear, sweet friend, Josie, serves in the YW Presidency in my ward and she was the mind behind our fireside. She has always been so positive and supportive of me and my music and I appreciate her so much. I love my friends and neighbors and ward members, and it was a great treat to be able to share a fireside with them. Here is a picture afterward of me and Josie. I just love her!

Because I always want to remember...

What a special and spirit-filled evening I was blessed to be a part of earlier this week on Tuesday, the 17th. I was asked to present a fireside at a New Beginnings for a local ward. I was especially excited and a little more nervous than usual because the sweet YW President who invited me is a dear friend and very special to our family. I admire her greatly, and wanted to be sure her Young Women were blessed with an uplifting and memorable evening. Before my portion of the program, I was blessed to hear this sweet sister speak and bear testimony of important truths. My heart was touched as the Spirit was invited to the meeting. As I presented my songs and testimony I was overcome with gratitude for the joy that I know and am able to express to others in settings like this. My very best friend, Melanie, came to offer her genuine support and love. It is so special to have her voice singing harmony on two of the songs from the "Be A Believer" CD. For a moment, I was able to speak of her amazing example and felt so humbled to have the tender blessing of her friendship. I spoke of my family, my precious children who show me the way every day. I was just overcome with the greatest feeling of love and peace. I know my Savior offers such strength to me, and I am so thankful to know and bear testimony of His love and compassion. Afterward, I was able to converse with many sweet and appreciative individuals. It is so special to just be a small part of a spiritual experience for others. It is amazing to me that the music in my heart can touch the hearts of others too. As dear friends offered thanks through kind words and embraces, I felt so blessed...so very blessed.

New Beginnings!

Just a quick post about a New Beginnings fireside I had the chance to present last night. A new goal I have for this music blog is to record some of my special performance experiences. It was exciting to present much of the new music from "Be A Believer". I love the theme for 2009, "Be thou an example of the believers..." I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful examples in my life. My dear parents and my sweet sister accompanied me on the trip to Cedar City and it is always a joy to have them come. It was my Dad's birthday, and it was so kind of him to spend the evening at a fireside. Every member of my family is an example to me - especially my sweet children. I think of them so much when I'm singing. I have dear, sweet friends who inspire me with their goodness. Anyway, last night was just a great reminder of the wonderful people that surround me. It was so easy to share testimony of the power of examples and the importance of following the unconditionally loving example of our Savior.
